The show

What is Scot Nery's Boobietrap?
It's LA's weekly variety whirlwind: comedy, circus, magic, music, and specialty acts hosted by Scot Nery. About 15 short acts in one night, curated so the room never cools off. TripAdvisor has called it the #1 show in Los Angeles. The LA Times called it "a comedic whirlwind." We built it so every Wednesday feels like opening night.
Why is it called Boobietrap?
The name is a wink and a trapdoor. You think you know what you're walking into, then the show keeps surprising you. It's memorable on purpose. People tell their friends the name, then they have to explain the night, which is exactly how great live shows spread.
Why Wednesdays?
Wednesday is the secret best night of the week. Weekends are crowded and distracted. Midweek, people show up hungry for something excellent. We've made Wednesday our tradition so LA always has a reliable place to get wrecked by joy before Thursday.
How long is the show?
Plan on about 90 minutes of show once we start, with doors earlier so you can settle in, get a drink, and pick a seat. Short acts mean the night moves fast. You leave buzzing, not checking your watch.
Why are the acts so short?
Each act is roughly four minutes of peak material. That's the point. Nobody gets stuck in a slow middle. You get the highlight reel of a dozen world-class performers, back to back. If you love an act, you'll want them again. If one isn't your flavor, the next one is already rolling in.
Is every show the same?
Never. The lineup rotates. Scot curates fresh combinations every week so regulars and first-timers both get a new night. That's why people come back: it's the same house energy with a new cast of surprises.
Who hosts / created it?
Scot Nery created and hosts the show. He's a comedy-cirque performer who books the room like a playlist: contrast, pace, and "holy crap" moments. The host job is part of the entertainment, not a commercial break.
How is Scot so funny?
Practice, taste, and zero dead air. Scot has hosted hundreds of these nights, so the room is an instrument he already knows how to play. He's funny because he sets up world-class acts, then rides the energy between them like a second show. Circus chops + comedy timing + real affection for the audience is a rare combo. The LA Times called the whole thing "a comedic whirlwind" for a reason: the host is the wind.
Why do celebrities like the show so much?
Because for ninety minutes they get to be the audience. Boobietrap is intimate, fast, and actually excellent, so famous guests can sit in the dark, laugh hard, and not perform for the room. The acts are peak material, the pacing never drags, and nobody is trying to make it a content farm. People who spend their lives on sets and stages recognize a night built for joy, not for status. That's why you'll sometimes spot familiar faces in the crowd: they came for the same reason you did.
Will I see famous people in the audience?
Sometimes, yes, and that's part of the LA magic. Treat them like fellow guests. The coolest move in the room is watching the show, not hunting celebs. When stars show up, it's usually because the night is that good, which is your cue that you bought the right ticket.
Is there a house band?
Yes. Live music stitches the night together. The band makes transitions feel like a show, not a talent showcase with dead air. That musical spine is one reason Boobietrap feels bigger than the room.

Tickets & pricing

How much are tickets?
General admission is typically $40 (check the live ticket page for tonight's exact offer). You're paying for a packed curated night of pros in an intimate lounge, not a single stand-up set. Compared with most LA nights out, it's a steal for how much happens onstage.
What is Unhinged Pricing?
Some nights we run a playful pricing machine so adventurous guests can unlock a personal ticket price. It's theater before the theater: fun, fair, and built to keep great acts paid while rewarding people who lean in early. Try it at boobiela.com/unhinged when it's live for a date.
Why do prices sometimes change?
Demand is real. Sold-out Wednesdays and quieter ones shouldn't pretend they're the same night. Dynamic pricing helps us keep the lights on, book stronger lineups, and still offer sharper deals when we want the room full of the right energy. Better for the show, better for you when you catch a deal.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
If we're not sold out, yes. Online first is smarter. Shows fill, and buying ahead means you walk in like you belong instead of hoping the board still has seats. Advance tickets also help us green-light bigger acts earlier in the week.
Where do I buy tickets?
Right here: boobiela.com. You'll get a confirmation email with your ticket QR. Phone screen or print both work at the door.
Do I need to print my ticket?
Nope. Your phone QR is perfect. Printing is fine too if that's your vibe. We designed check-in to be fast so you can get to the bar and the good seats.
Is seating assigned?
General admission, first come, first served. That's a feature: early birds pick the seats they want, groups can cluster together, and the room feels social instead of rigid. Arrive closer to doors if you care about a specific spot. Every seat in this lounge is a good seat.
What if the show is sold out?
Sold out means the night is going to be electric. Join the list / check back for releases, grab next Wednesday, or ask about livestream when it's offered. A full house is how this show stays legendary.
Can I transfer or change my ticket date?
Email info@boobiela.com as early as you can. When seats allow, we love helping you land on a night you can actually attend. We protect capacity so the artists and the room stay solid, and we still treat humans like humans.
What is your refund policy?
Tickets are generally final sale because every seat is a real commitment to artists, staff, and a curated night. If something serious happens (medical, family emergency), email us. We'd rather solve it with you than hide behind fine print. Buying a ticket is how you vote for live entertainment that still takes risks.
I bought for the wrong date / wrong email. Help?
Happens. Reply to your confirmation or email info@boobiela.com with the order details. We can usually reissue or move things when inventory allows. Getting you into the right Wednesday is a win for everyone.
Can I buy tickets as a gift / for someone else?
Yes. Buy online, then forward the confirmation (or enter their email at checkout when the form allows). The QR is the ticket. Surprise Wednesdays make excellent presents.

Night of the show

What time do doors open and when does the show start?
Doors open at 7:00 PM. Show starts at 7:30 PM. Come after 7:00 whenever you're ready. Grab a drink, settle in, meet your people, and claim a seat before the show starts.
Should I arrive early?
Yes if you want prime seats or you like a little pre-show glow. The room is intimate (~100 seats), so early arrival is how you customize your night without assigned seating drama.
What if I'm running late?
Text your group, then get here. We generally can seat late arrivals for a window after start at the house's discretion, when it won't wreck an act. Coming in quietly protects the performers and the people who arrived on time. If you're very late, email or call ahead when you can so we can coach you in.
Is there a dress code?
Look like you meant to go out. Casual-nice to dressed-up both work. This is a lounge night, not a costume party (unless you want it to be). Comfortable shoes help if you're walking from parking.
Is there a bar? Can I drink during the show?
Full bar at Illusion Magic Lounge: cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. Drinks are part of the ritual. Must be 21+ with ID to purchase alcohol. Grab one before we start so you're settled when the first act hits.
Is food available?
This is primarily a show + bar night. Eat nearby in downtown Santa Monica before doors if you want a full meal, then come hungry for entertainment. The Westside dinner-and-show combo is half the reason Wednesdays slap.
Can I take photos or video?
Be cool. Quick phone snaps of the room or your friends are fine. Don't film whole acts, don't blast bright lights in performers' faces, and don't block anyone's view. The artists are giving you live fire. Protecting that moment is why the night feels special instead of like content.
Will I be picked on / is it interactive?
Scot works the room with warmth, not cruelty. Some acts invite participation. If you sit near the front, you're closer to the fun. If you prefer observer mode, that's cool too. The show thrives on a lively audience, not on roasting strangers.
Is there an intermission?
The night is built to move. Any pause is short on purpose so the spell doesn't break. Grab drinks with doors open before we start so you're locked in for the ride.
What should I do after the show?
Hang in the lounge, thank an act if you catch them, text a friend the name Boobietrap, and watch for the post-show playbill email with who you just saw. That's how this community grows.

Venue, parking & access

Where is Boobietrap?
Illusion Magic Lounge, 1418 4th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Downtown Santa Monica, steps from the Promenade energy, a short hop from the beach and the 10. Intimate on purpose: about 100 seats so every joke lands and every stunt feels close.
Why Illusion Magic Lounge?
It's a real performance room with a proper bar and a grown-up lounge feel. After years of stages across LA, this home base lets us do a full variety night with the polish the acts deserve and the hangout energy the audience loves.
Where do I park?
Street parking nearby (many Santa Monica meters are free after 6 PM) plus paid structures in the area, including options around 4th & Arizona and the P5 structure near 1444 4th St. Give yourself 15-30 minutes for parking on busy nights. Arriving a little early is how you turn parking into pre-show calm instead of stress.
Is rideshare / transit easy?
Very. Drop at 4th Street, walk in the front door, leave the car anxiety at home. Expo/E Line and local buses put you close to downtown Santa Monica. We love guests who show up unfrazzled.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Illusion Magic Lounge is wheelchair accessible. If you need anything specific (aisle seat, timing help, companion notes), email info@boobiela.com ahead of time so we can make your night smooth.
Which door do I use?
Front door on 4th Street. Walk in like you've been here before. Box office / check-in will get you sorted.

Age, content & who it's for

What is the age policy?
Boobietrap is an adult variety show. We recommend 18+. Bring ID. Alcohol is 21+. Keeping the room grown-up is why artists can take bigger, smarter swings. That edge is part of why the show feels dangerous in the best way.
Is it appropriate for kids / is it family friendly?
It's not a kids' show. Humor and themes are adult. Teens with chill parents sometimes love it, but we don't market it as family entertainment. If you want a night where nobody is sanding the edges off for a Disney crowd, you're in the right place.
Is it too raunchy / will I be offended?
It's playful, sharp, and occasionally spicy, not a nonstop roast of the audience. Acts vary week to week. If you enjoy smart comedy, circus skill, and magic with a wink, you'll be fine. If you need everything PG, pick a different Wednesday activity.
Is it good for a date night?
One of the best in LA. Shared laughs, a full bar, an intimate room, and something to talk about for weeks. Couples come back as a tradition because every lineup is a new adventure.
Is it good for a bachelorette / birthday / bachelor party?
Yes. It's a celebration that doesn't feel like a chain restaurant with a stripper cake. Book as a group so you sit together, toast before doors, then get hit by 15 acts. Memorable without being messy (unless you want messy, in which case the bar's right there).
Is it okay for a work group / ProVisors / corporate outing?
Yes. Adult and inclusive. Teams and networking chapters use it as a bonding night because everyone experiences the same wild arc together. See boobiela.com/groups for how to sit together and optional private throne-room add-ons.
I'm bringing out-of-town guests. Good idea?
Perfect. Visitors remember LA for moments like this, not another chain dinner. You look like a local with taste.

Groups, private nights & giving

How do group tickets work?
Up to 4: buy normally. 5-9: buy in one checkout so you land adjacent. 10+ or you want private throne room / open bar / custom moments: use the form on boobiela.com/groups and Scot will help block rows. Same per-ticket price as the public site. No group surcharge for the show itself.
Can we get a private room or buy out the show?
Often yes for the private throne room photo/toast moment, and sometimes for bigger buyouts depending on the calendar. Tell us the occasion and size. We'll quote what makes the night feel custom without killing the variety magic.
Can Scot / Boobietrap come to our event?
We've taken the show energy to clubs, festivals, private rooms, and special venues across California. Email info@boobiela.com with date, place, and vibe. Consulting and casting help are part of the mission too.
How can I support / donate?
Come to a show, bring friends, leave a glowing review, or donate at boobiela.com/donate. Live variety only stays this ambitious when people who love it chip in. Every bit helps keep artists paid and Wednesdays wild.
How do I get on the email list?
Buy a ticket (you're in the flow) or subscribe from the site footer. Show-night emails like "Plan Your Night" and post-show playbills are how we keep the community tight without spammy nonsense.

Livestream & watching from home

Do you livestream?
Select nights, yes. When a livestream ticket is offered, you get a link and can watch from anywhere with a drink in hand. It's not a compromise version of the room. It's a real way for faraway fans and last-minute stay-homers to still catch the whirlwind.
How does livestream check-in work?
You'll get email reminders with your join link (including a heads-up about an hour before). Showtime is still 7:30 PM Pacific. Pour something, join early, and treat it like a night out on the couch.
Is livestream the same as being there?
The room has a charge you can feel in your ribs. Livestream is the next-best seat when you can't be in Santa Monica. Many people do both: stream when travel wins, buy in-person when they can. We're glad either way.

After the show & more help

How do I find out who was on the show?
Watch for the post-show playbill email with the night's acts, and follow @boobietrapLA. That's the easy way to remember who blew your mind and find them again.
Where can I leave a review?
Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, and Facebook all help the next guest find us. A short "go on Wednesday" note is pure gold for a live show like this.
Still have a question?
Email info@boobiela.com. Real humans read it. Asking early usually means we can make your night even better.
